My work is, essentially, process driven. It constantly evolves, reflecting my own experiential evolution. The work is often a combination of simple form, contrasted with quite delicate surface decoration. My influences are extremely broad and numerous. Film provides me with narrative ideas and compositional source material. World travel, particularly to Japan, has presented me with endless design possibilities and reinforced my belief in and enjoyment of all things visual. Youth culture and architecture are also areas of interest and constant fascination.
I really love making. I particularly enjoy the control I am able to exert over non-ferrous metals; it's plasticity when annealed, it's seemingly limitless capacity for surface decoration. To me, combining metal with other materials such as wood provides an exciting contrast and also serves to enhance the metal objects, hopefully provoking another level of emotive response from the viewer.
Finally, my own personal mission is to visually convey what I am unable to communicate in words; aspects of masculinity and gender stereotyping, as well as the universal theme of existence underpin nearly all of what I create.
